Jack’s Takes: Is Baby Yoda evil?!
Hello! Jack here, and I am back once again to guide you all through the treacherous maze of 2020.
Like many of you, I fell under the spell of a certain alien child (officially known as “The Child”, unofficially known as “Baby Yoda”) while tuning in to the Disney Plus show “The Mandalorian”. But who can blame me, right? How can anyone say no to this face?
However, after watching a particular scene from the second episode of the newest season of “The Mandalorian”, I am left with mixed feelings about the undeniably cute protagonist. If you’re unsure about which scene I am referring to, here is a clip:
Innocent enough, right? WRONG!
For context, those are eggs that Baby Yoda is eating. Eggs which belong to a passenger that the Mandalorian has agreed to fly back to her home-world in order that she might get them fertilized by her husband in time, or risk putting an abrupt end to her bloodline.
Many viewers like myself were left confused about what to think of Baby Yoda’s actions, enough so that Lucasfilm creative art manager Phil Szostak had to speak out to remind viewers the eggs were “unfertilized” and that the running gag was “intentionally disturbing, for comedic effect.”
Even so, some users suggest that this action, under the guise of being just another case of childhood naiveté, could foreshadow an eventual heel-turn for our young hero.
As for myself, I believe it is far too soon to tell what lies in store for Baby Yoda. However, there is one thing I can confirm: that’s a cute baby!
