Since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, I can’t help but notice how much more facial hair I am seeing. It seems that everywhere I go, I am sure to run into someone with a luscious beard that puts my measly mustache to shame.

This increase in facial hair isn’t purely anecdotal, either. In fact, according to a new survey from men’s grooming leader Wahl, 40% of men 18-64 have grown facial hair since the COVID-19 pandemic began. We’re living in some hairy times, in more than ways than one!

Still, despite seeing more bearded bros and mustachioed men about, I have yet to be completely taken aback by hair growth. Until today…

This sheep (named Baarack by his rescuers) was found wandering around Australia and brought to Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary, an animal sanctuary north of Melbourne, where he was promptly sheared. Despite the wool weighing in at a staggering 78 pounds, Baarack’s accumulated wool came in just a little bit short of the world record of 90 pounds (that distinction belongs to Chris, another Australian rescue sheep).

There’s no telling how long the sheep had been wandering. However, one can assume that it had been at least a couple of years, as sheep need at least yearly shearing to keep their coat light. That being said, it is safe to assume that Baarack started his impressive growth prior to the start of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Even so, he gives us facial hair enthusiasts something to look up to, a bright, hairy beacon to which we might aspire. Tally ho, Baarack! You will surely become one with the ages…
