Battle Of The Brands: Kylie, Selena and Hailey
If you haven’t heard of the Kylie, Selena and Hailey drama this past week, YOU, my friend, are living on a very different side of social media than I am. Since these three celebs are taking over my TikTok feed, I thought it would be fun to do a “battle of the brands” since all three run successful beauty companies. Like I always say, you vote with your dollar, so let’s check out their brands.
Kylie Cosmetics
This company was founded in 2014 by Kris and Kylie Jenner, launching their first product “Kylie Lip Kits” in November of 2015. Kylie was growing up in the spotlight and was getting noticed for not owning up to her recent lip fillers. She flipped this negative narrative (as her family is known for) into a $600 million dollar company. Don't get me wrong I'm a Kylie STAN, but we don't love mean girl energy.
Rare Beauty
Selena Gomez founded Rare Beauty in 2019. It’s a company focused on its target market’s uniqueness. Her company is also donating 1% of all gross sales to mental health organizations. The whole team dedicates their own social platforms to share mental health education. You can read more about my favorite Rare beauty products HERE
Rhode
Hailey Bieber launched Rhode Beauty in 2022. She worked with two well-known dermatologists whose common goal was to create “happy and hydrated” skin. The “glazed” skincare took over the internet. If you follow me on insta you know I love a glazed skincare look. Rhode Beauty was sued after the launch for copyright infringement by a smaller indie clothing brand. We have yet to see Hailey drop or change her name.
With this drama arising between the three celebs, I think looking into their companies and their philanthropy speaks volumes about each person. As I always say “you vote with your dollar” make it count. #teamselena
