Last Minute Easter Ideas
I literally looked at the calendar this week and realized Easter is this weekend. How did that creep up on me so fast? I am the world's worst procrastinator during holidays. Here's some easy ideas to make your kids think you didn't forget this year.
Easter Egg Hunt
Hosting a traditional Easter egg hunt is easy and the kids always have a great time. Depending on the weather you can host one inside or outside. I would go out and get the eggs now so they aren't sold out everywhere the night before. Also, be prepared to find the eggs the kids can't find, and let's be real, we forget where we hid in a few months from now.
Make Bird Nests
Bird nests are a cute treat to bring in the Easter spirit. And they are super easy to make. Here's the recipe.
- 3 cups mini marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups dry chow mein noodles
- small decorative candies (peep chicks and jelly beans)
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the marshmallows and butter. When melted together, stir the vanilla extract and chow main noodles.
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Let the mix cool slightly, and then coat your hands with cooking spray.
- Quickly grab a small handful of the chow mien mixture and form it into a ball. Press your thumbs into the middle to create a nest shape
- Allow the nests to cool and then decorate with the candies.
Relax the Candy Rules
We usually eat pretty healthy in our house, but what's the point of Easter if you can't indulge a little bit? Don't worry your kids won't die if they eat more candy than you usually allow.
I hope you all have a wonderful and fun filled Easter!!
