There is NOTHING better than having a simmer pot going on a crisp, autumn evening. They smell amazing, are eco-friendly AND pet friendly. Not to mention they are super easy to make and can be a fun activity to do with the family. Here are some easy simmer pot recipes you can try!
Apple Cinnamon
If you love the smell of fresh apple pit this simmer pot recipe is for you! You can also dry the apples and make this recipe in bulk to give as gifts.
Ingredients
- 2 apples
- 4 star anise
- 1/4 cup ginger
- 6 cinnamon sticks
- 1/3 cup clove
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit
- While the oven is heating thinly slice your apples and lay them on a baking sheet (to prevent browning you can dip them in lemon juice first)
- Bake for one hour then flip and bake for another hour
- Blend the simmer pot by adding all your ingredients to a jar. Presentation is key!

Winter Woods
If you love the smell of fresh pine and want the feeling of winter wonderland this recipe is for you!
Ingredients
- 5-6 evergreen sprigs
- 1 lemon
- 1 handful juniper berries
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit
- Slice the lemon into thin slices and layer on a baking sheet
- Bake for 2 1/2 hours and periodically rotate
- Let cool and then layer with other ingredients in a jar for storage
Holiday Simmer Pot
This recipe smells exactly how I imagine Thanksgiving and Christmas smell in my head.
Ingredients
- Fresh cranberries
- 6-8 orange rounds
- 4-6 cinnamon sticks
- 3 fresh rosemary sprigs
- 1/4 cup clove
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit
- Slice oranges into thin slices and layer on a baking sheet
- Bake for 2 1/2 hours
- Layer ingredients in a jar
- This blend needs to be used quickly due to the fresh cranberry
Lemon and Orange
This recipe smells like citrus spice! Perfect for fall.
Ingredients
- 4-6 Lemon slices
- 4-6 orange slices
- 2 bay leaves
- 3 Cinnamon sticks
- 2 tablespoons of cloves
Directions
- Follow steps for drying the orange and lemon slices from above
- layer ingredients in jar for storage or use immediately
Tip: If you're using the simmer pot immediately you can omit the drying of the fruit step!
